Double Cone Blender R&D Lab Model

Description

Double Cone Blender R&D Model (small powder mixer) uses for mixing dry powder and granules homogeneously. All contact parts made out of stainless steel of required grade by customer. Two third of the volume of the Cone Blender is filled to ensure proper mixing. It can be used for Pharmaceutical, Food, Chemical and Cosmetic products etc.

The double cone blender features an innovative cantilever-type design that allows interchangeable pans for enhanced flexibility in production. This unique construction lets users swap cones of different capacities within the same machine, maximizing equipment utility while minimizing floor space and investment costs.

Beyond interchangeable cones, this versatile machine supports multiple bowl shapes to suit diverse mixing applications, including octagonal-shape bowls, V-shape bowls, and ribbon-shape bowls. This adaptability makes the double cone blender an ideal choice for pharmaceutical, chemical, and food processing industries requiring precise powder blending.

For pilot-scale and small-batch requirements, our pharmaceutical powder mixer is available in multiple capacities — 5 liters, 10 liters, 15 liters, and 20 liters — making it perfect for research and development, lab-scale trials, and small production runs. Whether you need gentle blending or thorough homogenization, this double cone mixer delivers consistent, reliable results.

Choose our double cone blender for superior mixing efficiency, easy interchangeability, and dependable performance across varying batch sizes and powder consistencies.

Salient Features of Double Cone Blender R&D Lab Model

Working Principle of Double Cone Blender R&D Lab Model

The equipment functions based on tumbling (also called diffusive/convective blending) using the combined effects of gravity and rotational motion:

Loading of Material: Granules or powders are fed into the vessel, which is shaped like two cones joined together (generally filled between 50–70% of total volume to achieve efficient blending).

Rotational Movement: The vessel turns gradually on its horizontal axis, powered by a motor-gearbox arrangement connected through a chain and sprocket mechanism. Rotation speeds remain low, usually within 8–25 RPM, allowing for soft and controlled mixing.

Tumbling Mechanism: During rotation of the double-cone body:

  • The material gets carried upward along the cone’s inner walls.
  • It then falls, slides, and cascades back down under gravity’s pull, producing a waterfall-like motion.
  • Because both ends taper into cones, the material bed is continuously divided, folded over, and merged again.
  • Movement happens both along the length (axial) and across the width (radial) of the vessel, resulting in deep and even mixing.

Achieving Uniformity: As rotation continues, particles travel through intricate three-dimensional paths, combining convective and diffusive blending mechanisms. This allows homogeneous mixing to be reached within roughly 5 to 15 minutes, while keeping shear stress low so particle structure remains intact.

Advantages of Double Cone Blender R&D Lab Model

Key Features of Double Cone Blender R&D Lab Model

  • Double Cone Blending Design
Double cone shape tumbles powders and granules for uniform mixing. Gentle, low-shear action protects fragile granules from degradation. Ensures a homogeneous blend in every trial batch.

  • Compact Bench-Top Design
Small footprint fits easily on a lab bench or in a small R&D area. Lightweight body is easy to move and install. Ideal for formulation development, trials, and pilot batches.

  • Stainless Steel Construction
Contact parts are made of SS 316L for durability and hygiene. Polished internal surfaces reduce material loss and prevent contamination. Smooth finish allows quick cleaning and easy maintenance.

  • Variable Speed and Timer Control
Adjustable speed and timer settings suit different blending requirements. User-friendly controls allow easy setting of batch parameters. Ensures repeatable performance across trials.

  • Easy Loading and Discharge System
Wide loading port and butterfly valve allow quick, clean material handling. Smooth discharge minimizes product waste and residue. Supports easy scale-up from lab trials to production blenders.

FAQ for Double Cone Blender R&D Lab Model

The blender is available in 5, 10, 15, and 20 liter capacities for pilot/batch mixing. It features a cantilever-type interchangeable design, so different capacity cones (or even different bowl shapes such as octagonal, V-shaped, or ribbon) can be mounted on the same machine.

All contact parts are made of Stainless Steel 316 (2 mm thick plate on the DCB-5 model). Non-contact parts, safety guards, covers, and the control panel are fabricated from Stainless Steel 304. The cone is mirror-polished inside and outside, while the structure is matt-polished.

Approximately two-thirds of the cone volume should be filled to ensure proper and uniform mixing. For the DCB-5 model, the gross capacity is about 8 liters and the working capacity is about 4 liters.

It has a compact cantilever design mounted on a single shaft, a butterfly valve for easy discharge, a charging/cleaning port with an openable cover, worm reduction gearing, and a control panel with start/stop/inch buttons plus VFD speed control. All moving parts are covered, and safety guards made of SS 304 are provided for safe operation.

  • Orientation: Cantilever type, interchangeable design
  • Motor: 0.5 HP, 1440 RPM, 3-phase (non-flameproof)
  • Power: 440 V, 3-phase, 50 Hz (adjustable to customer voltage requirements)
  • Gear: Reduction type, ratio 30:1
  • Discharge: Butterfly valve
  • Bearings: Double roller bearings on stainless-steel shafting
