Colloid Mill including colloidal mill machine uses to reduce the particle size of a solid suspension in a liquid or to reduce the droplet size of a liquid suspended in another liquid. Colloid process done by applying high levels of hydraulic shear to the process liquid. Mill frequently uses to increase the stability of suspensions and emulsions. Colloid Mill uses for wide applications such as homogenizing, emulsifying, dispersing, mixing, superfine grinding, ointments and highly viscous products in pharmaceutical, cosmetics, suspensions & emulsion industry.
The product is fed to the hopper which leads the product into the gap between rotor and stator. The product is subjected to a high degree of shearing, cutting and rubbing between two metal toothed surfaces of rotor and stator and towards the discharge section. The processed product continuously leaves the mill through drainpipe if required, it can be re-circulated by three-way cock and re-circulating pipe assembly. Working Principle of Colloid Mill
Colloid Mill constructed with a view to process products which is ground & well dispersed. It disintegrates particles faster & uniform swiveling without forming agglomerates and homogenizes products in one pass. Mill develops not only hydraulic pressure in grinding tool section, but turbulence & cavitation’s which combined provide both a gentle grinding & required impact, squeezing, cutting etc. This effects the homogenizing of products & wetting out of powders, all in one shot.
Centrifugal force of the rotor brings the material inside the mill. The rotor & stator combination with its exceptional large surface area provides both a gentle grinding & the required impact effect. A three-way valve at the discharge connection of the Colloid Mill can either provide material to inlet opening for rework or discharge the processed material.
